The Department of Energy and Climate Change is planning to shut down all of Britain’s coal-fired power stations by 2023. Under the proposals, the ten British coal fired power station that generate around 30 per cent of the UK’s electricity would be forced to shut down, convert to alternative fuels or install carbon capture. The National Grid predicts a tiny supply margin of 1.2 percent during periods of peak demand this winter…
