Last month, Guido readers in the Sun on Sunday learnt of a past relationship between Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott. Put your breakfast away – there was even talk of a “half hour” romp with an unnamed naked man in a Cotswold field:
“Abbott, who told SHE magazine in 1985 that her “finest half hour” was romping with a naked man in a Cotswold field, has been described as a “long-time friend” of her “very close” ally Mr Corbyn. The pair do not deny the Westminster legend of their romantic trip across Soviet East Germany on a motorbike.”
Today’s Times confirms Jezza and Diane had a “brief fling“, including a holiday together:
“Friends said that Mr Corbyn and Ms Abbott began their relationship in the late 1970s when the newly elected Labour leader was a councillor in Haringey, north London. He was separated from his first wife, Jane Chapman, a fellow Labour councillor, whom he had married in 1974.
A party colleague of Mr Corbyn and his then-wife said Ms Chapman had hoped they would be reconciled but believed his burgeoning relationship with Ms Abbott, who was four years younger than her husband, made their divorce inevitable.”
Reds under the bed. And in it…
