Back in 2003, Labour’s new Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell said this about the IRA:

“It’s about time we started honouring those people involved in the armed struggle. It was the bombs and bullets and sacrifice made by the likes of Bobby Sands that brought Britain to the negotiating table.”

According to the BBC report at the time, the father of 13 year old Tim Parry, who was killed by an IRA bomb, said of McDonnell:

“I find them [the comments] incredible. On a personal level, they were grossly insulting and insensitive. His political point is utter nonsense. The man is crass beyond belief. For him to think my son’s death was justified in political terms is about the greatest disservice he could do to my son and my family.”

This charming chap is Jeremy Corbyn’s closest comrade and now his Shadow Chancellor.

Labour now have a leader who calls Hamas and Hezbollah his “friends” and has met with ISIS sympathisers; a London mayoral candidate who defended a terror suspect who later pleaded guilty; and a Shadow Chancellor who praised the “bombs and bullets” of the IRA. Just what is it with Labour’s new top team and palling up to terrorists?
