Earlier this year, Gaia reported that loony green lobby group Urgenda had successfully brought a climate change liability suit against the Dutch government for “knowingly contributing” to global warming. After scratching their heads for several months over Urgenda’s demand that they must slash emissions by 25% from 1990 levels by 2020, the Dutch government has today admitted that they will have to comply with the ruling.

The Urgenda busybodies simply can’t believe their luck:

“We had thought the legal system would not want to interfere in the political debate. But the scientific case is so strong, and the dangers so high that the court has ruled that the state is failing to adequately protect its citizens from the effects of climate change.”
