Corbyn Escapes #LabourPurge mdi-fullscreen

The ‘Labour Purge’ of supporters who were banned from voting for Corbyn because they do not support the “aims and values” of the party disqualified anyone who backed another party at a previous election. According to the Indy:

“most were just people who had posted support for the Greens on their Facebook page before the last election”

So a public display of support on social media for a rival party in a previous election means you are barred from voting.

Which makes this tweet by one Jeremy Corbyn after the 2012 Bradford West by-election rather awkward indeed:

If Corbyn was gleefully celebrating the victory of a Respect Party candidate over the Labour choice, how is that different from those who publicly supported the Greens on Facebook and were subsequently stopped from voting? If they’re being consistent, Labour would have to ban Corbyn from voting in his own leadership contest…
