Burnham Faces Backlash Over Female Leader Gaffe

By far the most awkward moment of the BBC 5Live hustings this morning was Andy Burnham mansplaining about why the time isn’t right for a female Labour leader:

NC: “Andy Burnham, wouldn’t it be great to have a woman leader?”

AB: “In time. When the time is right.”

[Audience and other candidates gasp]

AB: “When the right candidate comes forward.”

“In time”? “When the time is right”?

Everyday Andy Burnham sexism…

Quote of the Day
