Mandelson to Advise “Yes to EU”


The Telegraph has got hold of Mandelson’s letter to Juncker’s “Head of Cabinet” Martin Selmayr. In it Mandelson is clearly establishing the terms for him pulling the strings for the “Yes to EU” campaign. Note the reply’s classic Euro-fat-cat reference to the Berlaymont dining room serving taxpayer-funded fine wine and foie gras….

Guido hopes Mandelson and the other old guilty men of Europhilia take a leading role in the referendum campaign. One thing does concern him. Surely it can’t be right for EU money – from British taxpayers – or foreign government funding of any kind, to find its way into the coffers of either the Yes or No campaigns? The question of EU membership should not be swayed by foreign governments interfering in British sovereignty. Foreign cash funding the campaigns should be illegal…
