Amber Rudd’s purge of green subsidies continues today with an announcement from DECC that all funding for the coalition’s “Green Deal” programme is to be pulled. The Deal was supposed to make installing energy efficiency measures affordable by allowing homeowners to pay back the cost of home improvements with the savings they made on their bills.
Here’s Chris Huhne announcing the “Green Deal” back in 2010, promising that it would “create a whole new industry”, with 250,000 jobs being created and 26,000,000 homes being improved. Around 5,000 homes ended up being upgraded under the scheme..
Whatever happened to that guy?
