In the last 40 years the world has lost half its wildlife” claimed Sarah Montague on the Today Programme as she introduced Springwatch presenter Martin Hughes Games, who also repeated, unchallenged, the bizarre wildlife extinction claim:

“As you say that report last year from the World Wildlife Fund clearly showed that we lost 50% of the world’s wildlife in the last 40 years.”

If the WWF figure sounds like cow poop, that’s because it. Even climate change fearing conservationists think it’s a meaningless arbitrary number picked out of thin air.
