Greenpeace duped almost 100,000 people into believing they co-owned a plot of land in the middle of the prosed Heathrow third runway. In fact Greenpeace sold the land in 2012 without bothering to tell anyone…

The land which Greenpeace and their backers Alistair McGowan, Emma Thompson and Zac Goldsmith christened the ‘AirPlot‘ was purchased back in 2009, becoming the focal point of the anti-Heathrow expansion. People were persuaded to sign up as co-owners and quite reasonably believed that Greenpeace would hold onto the land indefinitely. Locals and activists have been shocked to discover Greenpeace didn’t own the land outright and had a buyback agreement with the previous landowner…

Even Cameron had a tree planted there on his behalf during the height of his ‘blue is the new green’ phase. Dave’s tree has withered away and died…
