The GMB union have finally seen sense and come out in favour fracking.
Britain’s fourth largest union has today announced the agreement of a joint charter with industry representative UK Onshore Oil and Gas, that commits them to recognising the importance of shale for Britain’s future energy supplies.
GMB are partners in the ‘Trade Unions for Energy Democracy’ group, that lobbies for stricter regulation for fossil fuel industries, making them complicit in lobbying for regulation that has led to their members losing their jobs. For years they have actively been undermining the interests of their membership, publicly railing against the “monolithic corporations” whose priorities lie in “making money out of burning fossil fuels“.
It’s amazing that a union that has ‘represented’ workers in the gas industry for 126 years has taken this long to back the future of their member’s industry…
