Cooper and Burnham Neck and Neck on Names mdi-fullscreen

labour leadership

This morning Andy Burnham has got three more public declarations from Pat Glass, Ronnie Campbell and Stephen Hepburn which now puts him on 28, equal with Cooper. They’re both doing speeches today.

Former Chief Secretary to the Treasury Burnham will admit that he spent too much in a ‘I’m not a lefty’ tour of Ernst & Young:

“If we are to win back trust we have to start by admitting that we should not have been running a significant deficit in the years before the crash.”

“It worries me that, in some people’s eyes, Labour has become associated with giving people who don’t want to help themselves an easy ride. That must change before we can win again.”

Meanwhile Cooper is off to marginals that Labour won and lost to ‘listen’. Leaders lead, losers ‘listen’…

Kendall has received a boost with the support of one more MP, Gisela Stuart and remains the bookies second favourite. She’s speaking today too, up North Guido expects some further names to be revealed at that event.
