Miliband in 2011: Leave Libya to the Libyans

“I think he has demeaned himself and demeaned his office” said Ed Miliband last week about Michael Fallon. Apparently “national security is too important to play politics with”. Fast forward a few days and Miliband is accusing Cameron of abandoning Libya…

Yet Labour have been silent on this issue for years. What was Miliband’s advice for a post Gaddafi world? Leave Libya alone.

“This is an important moment to recognise the National Transitional Council and their role in taking Libya forward and we’ve got to be led by them. It’s very important that Libyans determine their future.”

Hardly sounds like he was calling for the government to do more now, does it?

Let Libya be Libya, says Ed before an election. Why didn’t you occupy them, he screams during an election…
