Following yesterday’s revelations that anti-fracking parliamentary candidate Mike Hill once offered his services to gas exploration company Cuadrilla, Guido can reveal today that Hill has a long history of misrepresenting the facts – not least when it comes to claims about his qualifications.
Hill has claimed on a number of occasions to be and expert adviser to the EU, telling a debate at the University of Canterbury that he was an “expert adviser to the EU Commission on shale gas” and point blank telling a Ryedale District Council meeting “I am an EU Adviser.” Hill is not an EU adviser, he is merely a member of a EU Commission Technical Working Group – a self described ‘forum for discussion.’ An EU Commission spokesperson recently told IPSO “Mr Hill is not an official EU advisor and not entitled to use such a title”
Hill also claims to have advised both the Royal Society and the Department for Energy and Climate Change:
In fact, he has simply made a written submission to the Royal Society, while the DECC have in a letter seen by Guido bluntly clarified that “Mr Hill is not an advisor to DECC.” Bad mother fracker…
