Walter Mitty CV of Anti-Fracking Candidate

Following yesterday’s revelations that anti-fracking parliamentary candidate Mike Hill once offered his services to gas exploration company Cuadrilla, Guido can reveal today that Hill has a long history of misrepresenting the facts – not least when it comes to claims about his qualifications.

Hill has claimed on a number of occasions to be and expert adviser to the EU, telling a debate at the  University of Canterbury that he was an “expert adviser to the EU Commission on shale gas” and point blank telling a Ryedale District Council meeting “I am an EU Adviser.” Hill is not an EU adviser, he is merely a member of a EU Commission Technical Working Group –  a self described ‘forum for discussion.’ An EU Commission spokesperson recently told IPSO “Mr Hill is not an official EU advisor and not entitled to use such a title”

Hill also claims to have advised both the Royal Society and the Department for Energy and Climate Change:

In fact, he has simply made a written submission to the Royal Society, while the DECC have in a letter seen by Guido bluntly clarified that “Mr Hill is not an advisor to DECC.” Bad mother fracker…

Quote of the Day

Marc Almond on Emma Thompson…

“Emma Thompson has arrived in her gas guzzling carbon footprint stomping jet to serve Vegan food from the boat parked on Oxford Circus while the Yoga classes are taking place on Waterloo Bridge! Haha really? Couldn’t make this stuff up.”
