Climate change is to blame for the impending loss of ancient Chilean mummies according to a Harvard biology boffin. Professor Ralph Mitchell was called in by a Chilean Museum to uncover the mystery behind the rapidly deteriorating Chinchorro mummies. His conclusion: the humidity in the museum was a bit too high.

An unknown number of Chinchorro mummies lie undiscovered in the valleys of northern Chile, leading Prof Mitchell to conclude that they need protecting from the “devastating effects of climate change“. It remains unexplained how the 7000 year old mummies, the oldest in existence have survived seven millennia of changing climate.
