According to research by Third Sector magazine the median salary for each top earner among general charities such as Save the Children, Cancer Research UK and the British Red Cross was £145,000 – more than the British Prime Minister gets paid. Given that many of these charities have the taxpayer as their biggest source of funds the pay rates are still too high in an age of deficit financing.
