Subject: Appointment of successor to Sir John Sawers as Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service
To All Editors
You will be aware of the announcement made by the Foreign Secretary that Alex Younger is to succeed Sir John Sawers as Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service.
Although Alex Younger’s appointment is now a matter of public record, DA Notice 5 asks that details of the families and home addresses of members of the intelligence agencies and any other information, including photographs, which could assist terrorist or other hostile organisations to identify a target, should not be published without first seeking DA Notice advice.
If you have any doubts about material you plan to publish or broadcast about the appointment of Alex Younger then please do not hesitate to contact me.
