Craig Mackinlay has been selected as the Tory candidate for the Thanet South constituency at the 2015 General Election – a seat being eyed as likely to be fought by Nigel Farage. Mackinlay was briefly UKIP’s leader in 1997 before serving as deputy leader of the party between 1997 and 2000.
