Labour Candidate Hopeful is Tory Donor

If you were a Labour activist hoping to win support so be selected as a parliamentary candidate, what is just about the worst possible thing that could come out about you? Regular readers may remember Ibrahim Dogus, pal of Labour expenses piggy Joan Ryan who is hoping to be selected in Enfield Southgate. Here he is getting friendly with John Major and local Tory MP Nick de Bois. What’s more, a receipt obtained by Guido shows that Dogus generously donated £1,250 to the local Conservative Association this summer:

Tough one to explain at his selection meeting…

UPDATE: Perhaps Joan Ryan will be commenting, just as she did when the local Tory candidate did exactly the same thing last time round. Tony Lit gave Labour £4,800 before running for the Tories in Ealing Southall. Joan piped up: “Tony Lit today stands exposed as a naked opportunist”. What about her pal Ibrahim?

Quote of the Day

Andrea Leadsom told BBC Radio 4’s Today

“He’s made his views on Brexit on the record, and the problem with that of course is that the chair’s impartiality is absolutely essential. … He’s made his views known on Brexit… it’s a matter for him but nevertheless it’s a challenge and all colleagues need to form their own view of that.”
