Labour are continuing their assault on Free Schools, despite backing the policy in all but name. Responding to the news that Shazia Parveen had quit as Chair of of Governors at the troubled Al-Madinah free school in Derby, Shadow Education Minister Kevin Brennan claimed on Friday that:
“Labour has long warned of the dangers”.
Indeed, as Guido exposed in the Sun yesterday, Parveen has been on Labour’s radar for a long time: she even stood for election for them in 2011 and boasts that she raises money for Labour MPs.
Oops.
