Big reshuffle news of the day so far is Jeremy Browne out at the Home Office, to be replaced by Norman Baker. In his book Baker accuses the Home Office of complicity in the state-sponsored murder of Dr David Kelly.
“Brutality, immorality and deception were to be found in totalitarian regimes across the world. These qualities can easily be found in Western democracies too. We fool ourselves if we think “It can’t happen here”. It can, and it does.”
A Whitehall source quips: “betting that Baker asks for the David Kelly files on his first day? Wouldn’t want to do his DV check.”
A penny for Theresa May’s thoughts…
UPDATE: A Home Office source adds “I feel very bad for Jeremy. I have no idea how they can justify sacking him.”
