Here is two-faced Chuka Umunna last month, explaining Labour’s carefully considered position in support of of zero hour contracts:
“We’re not actually advocating an entire ban on these contracts. Sometimes people like to use them.”
Roll forward a few weeks and Ed Miliband’s speech on zero hour contracts to the TUC tomorrow takes a very different tone. Labour are now effectively banning zero hour contracts in their current form, outlawing the current arrangement where employees have to be available even when there is no guarantee of work and can only work for one company. Who has been leaning on them?
