Watson Rides out for Rudd, Uninvited mdi-fullscreen

The people of West Bromwich will be represented for the next few weeks from Australia after their MP’s ego is flying him to the other side of the world. Australian Labor leader Kevin Rudd is getting it in the neck from the press down under and Tom Watson is so outraged that someone is being mean to his comrade that he’s packed up his bag with “serious questions” and flown to Oz to continue his fight against Murdoch. Such behaviour should do wonders to quell the suspicion that the self-proclaimed slayer is an obsessive.

It was the front page that had Kevin Rudd photoshopped as Colonel Klink that led Watson to declare “I’m coming”. He might want to do his homework on the great Rudd though, as Tony Abbott’s deputy points out:

“I do recall that when Kevin Rudd lost the leadership to Julia Gillard, he hot-footed over to New York to seek career advice from none other than Rupert Murdoch. So he’s spent the last three years leaking against his colleagues, getting stories in News Corporation papers and now that the News Corporation editorial doesn’t think that he’s fit to be prime minister, a view that his colleagues share, all of a sudden it’s a conspiracy.”

Sound familiar?

Watson has not actually be invited to come and try cause trouble, though the Guardian report that he’s hoping for a meeting. Bless…
