Cabinet Who’s Who

20130625-085941.jpg Lord Ashcroft’s ways and means of winding up the Tory frontbench are becoming ever subtler. Today he publishes polling showing that vast swathes of the public are at a loss when it comes to recognising and naming Cabinet ministers. Less than one in three know who Michael Gove is, confusing him with Nigel Farage, while apparently Jeremy Hunt looks like Seb Coe. Harshest of the lot is George Osborne, who the public seem to think is Ed Miliband. Ouch.

After Dave it’s Boris who is most recognised, with 91% able to say who he is. Perhaps most amusing was the other end if the scale: Philip Hammond, correctly named by just 10%. You’ll never be leader if no one knows who you are…

Quote of the Day

Lewis Goodall opines

“Remainer readers may dislike Mr Farage – they may dislike his style, his rhetoric, his approach – but he cannot be faulted for his appreciation of strategy. If his opponents don’t up their game – and fast – he will beat them, just as he did before.”
