Handy-Cock Hearing: The Details mdi-fullscreen

More information about yesterday’s Portsmouth council meeting into sleazy LibDem MP Mike Hancock has emerged overnight. The two LibDems and one Tory councillor unanimously agreed that the investigation had to go forward. Guido understands that Hancock tried to argue that he was acting in a personal capacity when he was bombarding his constituent with text messages.  The fact that he was a councillor at the time and had signed up to the council’s code of conduct made that line of argument tricky though. Sources suggest that LibDem Councillor Les Stevens, a big supporter of the Hancock, pushed this line too. In vain. Outside legal types will be brought in and it’s expected to take several months. Why the LibDems did not do this themselves already beggars belief.
