The Mirror was the only newspaper with a hack who was in on the McBride / Draper emails (Kevin Maguire).  Today it has had to apologise to Tory treasurer Michael Spencer over claims made last week that he and his firm profiteered out of the 9/11 terror attack.

Mirror hack Graham Brough claimed last week that Spencer, the CEO of ICAP, had tried to exploit the deaths of rivals at Cantor Fitzgerald – where 658 rival money brokers lost the lives on 9/11.

We offer Mr Spencer and ICAP our sincere apologies for these errors and for any distress caused to him.  We have agreed to make a  substantial contribution to a charity of ICAP’s choice.
