Guido has confirmed this story and it is absolutely true. Two weeks ago Tony Blair spent a night in a prison.

According to staff at the Malmaison luxury boutique hotel in Oxford, the PM was a guest at the hotel which is a converted HM Prison.

It still retains some of the original features like clanking doors, but now has red carpets, a brasserie, spa and broadband. Porridge is available for breakfast.
