Don’t Forget Your Medal Tony

It is over three years since the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President Pro Tempore of the Senate resolved to

“make appropriate arrangements for the presentation, on behalf of Congress, of a gold medal of appropriate design, to Prime Minister Tony Blair, in recognition of his outstanding and enduring contributions to maintaining the security of all freedom-loving nations.”

So since he is going this week to see the President and some Congressional leaders (coincidently at the same time as the Baker/Hamilton Report is being published) perhaps he could pick pick up his medal?

You don’t think Cherie has pointed out the advantages of waiting until after he has retired from his current job? You know, pick up the medal in Washington in a blaze of publicity rekindling memories of how he stood shoulder-to-shoulder with them and did not falter, before embarking on a $100,000-a-time speaking tour? Just a thought…
