The Speaker just reprimanded them both for not sticking to the business at hand, asking the PM about the government’s agenda. He told Dave he was out of order to enquire of Tony who should take over as Labour leader. Dave bristled at this and seemed on the verge of defying the Speaker, which would have been fun, giving us the prospect of the Leader of the Opposition being expelled from the chamber. The Speaker, perhaps not relishing the prospect of his authority being further diminished by defiance from the Leader of the Opposition, smiled and ruled that in order. Tony almost endorsed Brown in response. But not quite.
