Speaker Fed Up With the Dave and Tony Show? mdi-fullscreen

The Speaker seems to be getting increasingly irritated by the knockabout between Tony and Dave at PMQs. The PM goes on about Cameron’s teenage years as a SpAd, Dave jibes about when will Gordon take over.

The Speaker just reprimanded them both for not sticking to the business at hand, asking the PM about the government’s agenda. He told Dave he was out of order to enquire of Tony who should take over as Labour leader. Dave bristled at this and seemed on the verge of defying the Speaker, which would have been fun, giving us the prospect of the Leader of the Opposition being expelled from the chamber. Dave thought on his feet and switched to asking who did the PM want to be the next PM. The Speaker, perhaps not relishing the prospect of his authority being further diminished by defiance from the Leader of the Opposition, smiled and ruled that in order. Tony almost endorsed Brown in response. But not quite.
