Blunkett Really Was/Is Bonkers mdi-fullscreen
Guido along with the Sun and others took to calling David Blunkett “Bonkers” during the Nannygate saga and the various legal battles he has waged. Recall the late night phone calls to Kimberly, the playing of poignant lyrics down the phone line and the tales of lonely alcohol muddled nights. Remember him popping into Cobra committee meetings uninvited, the delusions about his ongoing role when he resigned in disgrace?

It now turns out that calling him bonkers was less abusive alliterative hyperbole and more of a diagnosis. He told the head of the Prison Service to call in the Army and “machine-gun” rioting inmates to regain control of a jail in 2002. Even Peter Hitchens on a good day would only suggest birching…

Guido notes that Blunkett has reduced the puppy like brown-nosing of Blair greatly of late, his obsequiousness is now fully focused on Gordon. He truly is delusional. Blunkett has more chance of being sectioned than of returning to the cabinet.
