Even Ramallah Doesn’t Want Blair!

Tomorrow’s Guardian will follow up Wednesday’s report by Guido that Blair was, according to local sources, due to visit the Palestinian city of Ramallah. Alas, as news leaked out a group of local moderately left-wing politicians signed a statement saying Tony is not welcome in their city. The statement, published in the Jerusalem Post says Blair “was coming to wash the hands that are dripping Lebanese blood with Palestinian water… We should not allow him (to come) and not give him the chance to appear as a peace maker. He is a man of violence and a war maker.” Another PR disaster in the making.

Meanwhile at the St John’s Wood school he visited today the kids, coached by some Trots, were having fun chanting “Blair Out”. Which presentational spin-genius was responsible for organising the visit to a school in an affluent Arab suburb of London?

I cannot support an indefinite backstop arrangement, where the EU holds a veto over our ability to exit…”
