The political parties have made their submissions, and surprise, surprise, they all reckon we should pay for them. “Give us the money or we will have to resort to crime” is the refrain. That sounds like highway robbery to Guido.
Sir Hayden now says he wants to hear from the general public:
I have been asked to try to find as much of a consensus as possible on a future system for the funding of political parties in the United Kingdom. I need the views of members of the public as well as those of the political parties. This means that I want to hear what you have to say.
Guido urges co-conspirators to go to Sir Hayden’s website and make their views known. Guido will be making the case for political parties raising funds from their own supporters pockets rather than ours via taxes. All comments will, he says, be read.
