First Blogger At The Lobby Briefing Question

Guido asked the PMOS “Does the PM still believe that the government is ‘whiter than white'”. Tom Kelly replied “The PM believes it is important that everyone upholds standards in public life. I am not going to discuss in any way the police investigation.”
And he carried on stalling until the end…

A passive lobby let him no comment it all the way, only Adam Boulton and Daisy Sampson Channel 4’s Cathy Newman* tried to get a substantive question answered.

UPDATE : Back in the cellar – some of the hacks smirked in recognition as Guido gatecrashed the briefing 5 minutes late. When Guido asked his question Tom Kelly squinted in a “which one is he, these lobby hacks are getting younger…” kind of way. Guido did not see Michael White or Nick Robinson in attendance. No reason to question the PMOS today obviously.

*Ooops, as pointed out in the comments. Guido did not see her face since he was sitting behind her.

Quote of the Day

Dominic Raab wrote in his letter of resignation…

“This is, at its heart, a matter of public trust,” he told the PM, concluding: “I cannot reconcile the terms of the proposed deal with the promises we made to the country in our manifesto at the last election… I believe that the regulatory regime proposed for Northern Ireland presents a very real threat to the integrity of the United Kingdom. I cannot support an indefinite backstop arrangement, where the EU holds a veto over our ability to exit…”
