This kind of petty lying is second nature to MPs and drives Guido to pyrotechnics. A while back David Borrows received an email from a constituent, Simon Howard, requesting he sign an EDM about the closure of University Departments. Borrows replied saying that

I am currently the Parliamentary Private Secretary to Higher Education Minister, Kim Howells MP. When I was appointed I took the decision that as I was a member of the government, albeit at a very junior level, I would not sign EDMs.

Simon Howard was disappointed, but not stupid. He logged on to the internet and checked. During the time Borrows was PPS he signed over 100 EDMS. Rather than risk losing one vote by refusing a voter’s request, Borrows told an outright lie. You can’t get away with this sort of stupid lying when we can check you out so easily you moron.
