Sun readers must have thought it was 1980 all over again this morning, former editor Kelvin MacKenzie is writing a Thursday column for the paper.

His first column this morning has a go at Gordon Brown’s economic agenda “he wants to take your money and distribute it to the skint and the dim in the North”. He goes on to reflect

“I haven’t enjoyed myself so much in years. Watching the Blair project collapse in ruins is fantastic, I very much hope The Sun ditches Labour at the next general election and turns to the party that created the economic miracle which Brown inherited and then had the bloody nerve to claim he had something to do with.”

Guido thinks the allegiance of The Sun is the best media predictor of the outcome of the next general election. Andrew Neil’s musings were prophetic about this…
