“Flip-Flop” Fluff Flaps Cameron mdi-fullscreen
Blair had Cameron at PMQs for the first time. Guido has heard a story that Philip Gould has come up with a strategy that Blair and Brown are agreed on against Cameron. They are going to paint him as a flip-flopper just as Bush did with Kerry. It seems Cameron has heard the story as well.

Cameron went on the offensive at PMQs and accused Blair of flip-flopping and reversing on the Education Bill. The attack did not work, Blair was well prepared and monstered Cameron, for the first time Cameron looked winded. Great fun. Guido was glad to see the return of Punch and Judy politics.

Flip-flopping is a serious charge, with some substance, it is a much better charge than the tired “same old Tories” line. “Who knows what they will believe next week? They flip-flop all the time.” It will be no good Cameron accusing (correctly) New Labour of flip-flopping when they elected Blair their leader. Cameron’s best defence will have to be the truth, “we have indeed changed”. How novel.
