Guido’s prayers have been answered and the Blessed Ruth Kelly survives a row that owes a lot more to the politics of the Education White Paper rather than the particulars of a pervy paedo PE teacher.

The whole of Old Labour is ranged against her White Paper and only a coalition of Blairites and Cameroonies will get it through. Even the usually quiet and well behaved Neil Kinnock has intervened via an article in this morning’s Guardian.

Must have been a bit nerve racking for the Blessed Ruth when she heard the phrase from the PMOS that the PM “had full confidence in Ruth Kelly”. Guido last heard that phrase before Blunkett resigned…
