Did Daisy Screw Charlie?

Why did he announce it now? Why come clean on the worst kept secret in Westminster after lying about it for years? According to Iain Dale, ITN’s Daisy McAndrew, who was formerly Charlie Kennedy’s press secretary, wielded the knife. Iain’s scoop says:

She handed his private office a dossier early this afternoon and within an hour it was announced Kennedy would be making a personal statement. Shortly afterwards 5 Live’s John Pienaar reported that 11 LibDem Shadow Cabinet members had signed a letter of no confidence, which in typical LibDem fashion, they wimped out of sending. … At 6pm Kennedy admitted in a very dignified manner that he had a drinking problem and put in train the process for a leadership election.

Her ITN report did not mention her former position with Kennedy.

Quote of the Day

Jacob Rees Mogg writes

“If I had to choose between no deal and Mrs May’s original accord, I would have no hesitation of opting for no-deal Brexit but even Mrs May’s deal would be better than not leaving at all.”
