Book Sale of Blunkett’s Lies

Blunkett is a crap liar. He gets caught out all the time, he lied about his mistresses, he lied about the visa, and he most recently lied about deputising for Blair while he was in Barbados.

Fatty Pollard has the revised paperback edition of his biography of Blunkett out today and the former Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Lord Stevens’s memoirs, are out as well. Britain’s top ex-cop told the News of the Screws that “Liar Blunkett tried to stab me in the back”. The common thread in the books is that Blunkett is a liar and briefs against his enemies ruthlessly in a way that would make Mandelson blush. But Blair brought him back, and according to some sources, will eventually re-shuffle him back to the Home Office. The sources admittedly are not a million miles away from Blunkett, but since Blair despairs of the Fat Controller Clarke, who knows?

Incidentally Polly – I loved the “one more waff-furr Mr Pollard?” article. I recommend Club Gascon in Smithfields, the best French restaurant in London. The tasting menu is superb.

Quote of the Day

Dominic Raab wrote in his letter of resignation…

“This is, at its heart, a matter of public trust,” he told the PM, concluding: “I cannot reconcile the terms of the proposed deal with the promises we made to the country in our manifesto at the last election… I believe that the regulatory regime proposed for Northern Ireland presents a very real threat to the integrity of the United Kingdom. I cannot support an indefinite backstop arrangement, where the EU holds a veto over our ability to exit…”
