Hon. Fiend, the failing political blog (it failed to even be shortlisted for the Guardian’s Political Blog of Year awards) really has put it’s cyber-foot in it this afternoon.

In a blog about the Tories posted at 5.02pm today, beginning “Apropos of nothing…” the Fiend went on to make some pretty defamatory allegations about a former shadow cabinet minister. Guido is an acquaintance of the person concerned so won’t repeat the allegations, primarily because he knows them to be untrue.

UPDATE: Post deleted, 7.55pm. Fearless Fiend fears m’learned friends I suspect. Still the trouble with blogging is it gets sent out on RSS feeds – irretrievably.
UPDATE: “Earlier on I removed a post from this site after about 15 minutes. It will return in due course.” Guido wonders if it might be a little altered in the new version. The suspense…
