What is it with ASDA and Politicians? mdi-fullscreen
Yesterday’s toe curling unscripted, “surprise” visit by Blair to an ASDA store, accompanied by an unsurprised BBC news crew, seemed pointless. Blair took off his jacket as usual, walked in on a worker’s meeting, where he smiled and asked them sympathetically and hopefully “what are you discussing?” The manager told him “sexual harassment”. Blair’s brain just came to a halt, fearful of a gaffe if he quipped, his face just froze, eyes flickered and he wasn’t sure what expression to put on his face. He would still be stuck there only someone asked him a friendly question.

Guido wonders how much of a surprise visit it was, because he noticed in one shot a large poster in the staff canteen which read “ASK TONY!” There was alas no sign of the grumpy former ASDA temp and soon to be former MP for Kensington and Chelsea.

UPDATE: Guido is not making this up – here is the press release. ASDA have introduced Party Political Ales. Labour Landslide Bitter – once deep red, but now with a blue tinge, watch carefully your glass may turn Brown. Lib Dem Lift-Off Bitter, the alternative pint, Tory Triumph Bitter, brewed without any continental ingredients to appeal to traditional drinkers.
