The negative DNA test result comes as rumours circulate that Blunkett could make an early return after Labour wins the General Election. Admittedly the main sources for the rumours are Blunkett and his few remaining allies.

Desperately Blunkett claims “The Prime Minister wants me to report back on what I feel and what I find as I go round the country.” He says Tony Blair has made him a “key campaigner”, possibly there is some truth in this, Blair has said that the former Home Secretary remained a “big figure” whom he hoped would return at some point to cabinet.

The Quinns have not stated who is actually the father. Ungallant of Guido to say so, I know, but it is a question that will be asked in the future. There are a lot of scurrilous rumours going around – suffice to say we look forward to seeing a picture of the cherub.
