Timing is Everything mdi-fullscreen
Fatty Pollard‘s long planned semi-authorised Blunkett book is now being rushed to the printers to be out for Christmas stockings. Polly can’t believe his luck, two years of interviews with the Blunkett and his acolytes and bonktastically he gets a scoop. Pollard also gets a juicy serialisation in the Daily Mail as well.

Not such good timing for the Blunkett himself though. Just when he needs every friend he has the book reveals him slagging off everyone from Tony Blair to Margaret Beckett. Click to buyBlunkett of course co-operated because every wannabee political leader needs a critical biography, but the risk of not having a hackography is that the author may say unfortunate things about you. Or worse still they just quote you verbatim, of John Prescott, Blunkett charmlessly says “He’s right to believe that I am arrogant because I am. I am arrogant enough to believe that I know what I’m doing.” How come he didn’t know the rules on spousal train tickets?

Surprisingly, or maybe not, according to the book Blunkett admires the work of one ex-Home Secretary, not Jack Straw, who according to the book left the Department in “a mess”. No he admires the work of his predecessor Michael Howard. (Slogan © “Prison Works!”)

Patricia Hewitt is repaying him in kind for his self-confessed arrogance, lets just say that she is not effusively supporting him. Look out for senior female cabinet minister off-the-record type quotes.
