She is having a 50th birthday party at the Prime Minister’s official residence Chequers tomorrow, September 11th, despite her birthday being on September 23rd. She is quoted today in the Telegraph as saying “If I spent my life worrying about the fact the camera was on me I would be a basket case by now.” Hmmm, the not at all bonkers friend, sometime personal assistant and spiritual adviser, Carole Caplin will of course be there.
The Daily Mail quotes the outraged wife of a 9/11 victim, Tracey Larkey, a New Jersey resident whose British husband died in the attack on the World Trade Centre three years ago:
“I just don’t know what the Blairs could have been thinking. While thousands of relatives are mourning, Mrs Blair will be enjoying herself and showing off to all her friends and relatives … It’s completely selfish of her to choose to have her birthday party on that date. I’m amazed Tony Blair didn’t stop her. Then again, despite the countless letters of support I had after my husband was killed, I never got one from Tony Blair”
