Why Do Brownies Like American Losers?

The rumour in PR Week that Stephen Carter wants Mark Penn to come over and advise Brown dumbfounds Guido. Penn, a pollster, was supposedly fired in disgrace from the Clinton campaign after he was found to be taking money to lobby against Hillary’s own policies. (It is all a bit of a sham, she doesn’t really believe in the policy, he isn’t really fired). He hasn’t exactly proved to be the wisest of counsels to Clinton has he? Clearly he will be perfect for Brown.

Gordon has fallen out with Bob Shrum, the unrivalled adviser to 8 losing Democratic Party presidential campaigns. Shrum was last seen at Heathrow, fleeing the country after a bollocking from an ungrateful Brown.

Still, the payments he picked up via the Smith Institute during his time as an adviser to Brown will cushion his hurt…

Elisabeth Murdoch to Host London Obama Fundraiser

Guido has received his invite to the £500-a-head Obama fundraiser being hosted by Elisabeth Murdoch at her Ladbroke Terrace home in Kensington and Chelsea at the end of the month. Guido won’t be going because (a) he wants McCain to win and (b) the invitation says only American citizens can donate (it asks for your U.S. passport number by RSVP).So unless Ms Murdoch wants to let Guido off the ticket price, Gwyneth Paltrow and her will have to drink the champagne without him…

Triangulation Trickery

Right now Team Cameron is frantically trying to make sure that Dave gets his photo taken with McCain on Friday because McCain is going to be in London and will meet with Gordon. Team Cameron tried to fix a meeting with Barack when they visited Washington to no avail.

Now McCain looks like he has a good chance of becoming PotUS, we will hear no more Cameroon Obamania methinks…

Pundits Perverse Predictions Prove Piffle

How Did We All Get This So Wrong? in the Speccie sums up the pundits this morning. All the pundit talk of double digit leads for Obama have come to naught, there was even talk of Hillary pulling out of the race yesterday.

If you really want to have a good laugh, pick up a copy of the print edition of the Indy and compare it to the hastily re-written articles on their website. Slight change of tone and direction in their punditry.

Guido is sticking to sticking it to Westminster politicians…

Will Be Blogging Westminster, Not Washington

Does the British Commentariat really know what it is talking about? They seem awfully ready to provide analysis of the local psephology of states they have never even visited. Dale is off to Washington at least, almost every British hack seems to have a view on the U.S. elections. Guido doesn’t really have a view, sure he might want Ron Paul to win, but knows he won’t. In reality so long as Hillary loses it will be fine by Guido.

During Christmas Guido’s Tongan-American brother-in-law (a Republican) said he was going to vote for Obama. Barack’s book The Audacity of Hope comes highly recommended. Time to read up methinks…

Totty Watch : Hilary Not Humping Huma

That alleged line from Bill Clinton in his former mistress’ book Sleeping With the President: My Intimate Years With Bill Clinton by Gennifer Flowers, where he is said to have claimed that Hillary “has probably eaten more pussy than I have” has now gone mainstream thanks to the London Times.

The U.S. political gossip blogs are now re-telling the story. The story is about Hilary’s aide, the hot-looking totty, Huma Abedin (pictured), with whom she is alleged to be having an affair. Hilary’s campaign says “it is not even a tabloid trash story”.If Hilary Clinton says it is tabloid trash, it must be trash, right? Mind you, that is exactly what she said about Monica Lewinsky and come to think of it, Gennifer Flower’s affair with Bill…

Disappointingly, not as vulgar as Guido was hoping..

Al Gore Arrested

No not the globe-trotting scare-monger with the huge hypocritical carbon foot-print. His dope-smoking son was arrested last week for possession after he was pulled over for speeding. If he was speeding in his car you can bet the only hybrid was the weed. Seems like my kinda guy. On the subject of betting, bookmakers Paddy Power has as a result paid out on bets that Al Gore would be arrested – very sporting of them.

Al Gore III also gave Guido an excuse for a great headline.

UPDATE : That pun backfired, he was driving and smoking hybrids apparently.

Lord Lamont told ITV News…

“I think the PM is just human and Ed Balls is a pretty irritating person”

The last Quango in Paris says:

Mr Bryant and Mr Watson managing to make the whole hacking affair look like a farce – the more they moan the less I care about the whole subject! So partisan it beggars belief at all costs. They cannot rise above it ! If I was to call the PM a ‘liar’ I would want to be VERY sure.
