Guido Co-conspirators’ Top 12 Book Buys

Guido’s blog reading co-conspirators are massive consumers of books, usually bought online courtesy of Amazon. According to the online retailer our reader’s favourite top purchases of 2011 were:

  1. Let Them Eat Carbon: The Price of Failing Climate Change Policies
  2. The Silent State: Secrets, Surveillance and the Myth of British Democracy
  3. Zetter’s Political Companion
  4. The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine
  5. The Big Red Book of New Labour Sleaze
  6. The Triumph of the Political Class
  7. Human Action: A Treatise on Economics
  8. Back from the Brink: 1,000 Days at Number 11
  9. Ed: The Milibands and the making of a Labour leader
  10. Dirty politics, Dirty times
  11. The Rise of Political Lying
  12. A Walk-On Part: Diaries 1994-1999 (Mullin Diaires 3)

E-editions and books were combined. Pugnacious Mehdi Hasan really should be less chippy given how many of his books Guido helps shift…

How Many Laws Has Byers Confessed to Breaking?
Win a Prize Competition

Guido knows that hundreds of loafing lawyers read this blog, he also knows lawyers never do anything for free, so he is offering a reward of a copy of The Big Red Book of New Labour Sleaze to those who provide the best argued charges against Byers.  Either post them in the comments or email them to Guido.Fawkes@Order-Order.com (entries will be anonymous, don’t worry).

According to Channel 4′s Dispatches, which worked on the joint investigation with the Sunday Times, Byers confessed that:

  1. He had secured secret deals with ministers.
  2. Could get confidential information from Number 10.
  3. Was able to help firms involved in price-fixing get round the law.
  4. Boasted he had struck a secret deal with Lord Adonis, the Transport Secretary, to terminate a rail franchise contract for a client, National Express.
  5. Persuaded Lord Mandelson, to amend regulations on food labelled on behalf of Tesco.

Byers now says he was lying, surely not the best defence to use in Court.

The Big Red Story of the Day

Of course the really big story of the day is that today sees the launch of the Big Red Book of New Labour Sleaze updated to include all the latest shenanigans and with a bit more of a focus on Gordon Brown.

It has been written by bloggers with contributions from across the spectrum of the political blogosphere. It is in the bookshops this week or you can buy it online by clicking on the picture. And you can expect a little viral advertising campaign with a difference soon…

The Big Red Book of New Labour Sleaze

Have just finished Guido’s last contribution to the new expanded follow-up edition to our last bestseller, The Big Red Book of New Labour Sleaze produced by writers from across the blogosphere. It should be in bookshops in three weeks, conveniently just in time for Brown’s coronation. It will of course include more Brownite misdemeanours that we may have over-looked in the past.
So Guido’s focus is back on the blog and political tittle-tattle just in time for the fun to begin with the next round of Loans-for-Lordships interviews. Guido has not missed the fact that Blair’s people have been re-bailed, with the police looking set to strengthen their case before charges are brought.

Have no fear, charges will, one way or another, be brought.

Police Keeping Close Watch on Levy

There has been some speculation that the CPS could place charges as soon as June, which will coincide nicely with the Blair-Brown handover and the publication of the follow-up Big Red Book of New Labour Sleaze. Guido is also working on another book, with the working title “The Trial of Lord Levy”, for publication, on the advice of lawyers, after the verdict.

While researching the latter book it has come to Guido’s notice that, somewhat bizarrely for a man on police bail, whenever Sleazy Levy is in public he can invariably be seen being kept under the watchful eye of the Metropolitan Police. Guido understands that they are for his personal protection, not surveillance.

Guido never knew it could be so dangerous in leafy Mill Hill…

Iain & Guido’s Christmas Party Drinks

Iain and Guido have not forgotten the promised party for The Little Red Book of New Labour Sleaze contributors and our friends. We’ve booked this Friday 15th because it clashes with nothing important that we have been invited to and obviously nothing and nobody important in politics would forget to invite either of us…

Invitations for for mulled wine and nibbles will be emailed shortly…

A confused Nick Griffin says Nigel Farage is a shill for the City, forgetting that City banks want to stay in the EU:

“Farage is a snake oil salesman, but a very good one. His supposed anti-immigration stance is all smoke and mirrors, as is his carefully cultivated image as a ‘man of the people’. The truth is that UKIP is a pro-immigration party that exists to lobby for the interests of the City of London.”

Nick Clegg says:

Do you want lies with that?
