The second poll in a week has given Labour a five-point lead over the Tories, this time YouGov putting Labour on 40% versus the government’s 35%. A crude seat predictor might peg this at a circa 100 seat loss for the Conservatives…

Up in Scotland things don’t look great for the Tories either. The second-place position the Tories have held over Labour since the Ruth Davidson era may have finally come to an end as Douglas Ross slips into third place on 17% in the regional list vote to Labour’s 19% and the SNP’s 43%. On the constituency vote, the Tories are just holding a one-point lead over Labour on 19%, miles behind the SNP’s 54%.

A new poll by Ipsos MORI conducted during the school meals row has seen a shockingly large swing in Labour’s favour; from a 3% Tory lead in September to a 5% Labour lead today, a four-point swing in Labour’s favour. It’s worth remembering Ipsos MORI were provably the most accurate pollster over the last three years-worth of national elections. Given the polling was also conducted before Starmer kicked Corbyn out, this will have the Tories rattled…

In comparing attitudes of Remainers and Leavers, YouGov finds that Leavers are disproportionately pro-America, pro-Britain, pro-Israel, pro-Australia, and, errr, pro-Malta. Meanwhile Remainers are disproportionately pro-Germany, France, Belgium, Ireland, and Cuba. Leavers love the UK, Remainers would rather be in Cuba…

A new poll released during PMQs reveals the highest ever recorded support for breaking up the United Kingdom, with 58% of Scots – excluding ‘don’t knows’ – now backing independence. Including those who are undecided, this falls to 55% – a 16 point lead over the mere 39% prepared to vote for the union.
