Inside, their leading article dismisses Britain as “in reality, no more than an average power closely dependent on its former American colony”.
They claim: “In reality, the reluctance of London towards the European project is initially barely stronger than that of Paris.”
And they reckon Britain’s “attempts to obtain a special status that allows it to block what goes too far” have “marginalised” us as a player in Europe and put us on the “periphery“.
