WATCH: UKIP’s First Prime Minister’s Question

UKIP’s first elected MP used his PMQ to call on David Cameron to keep his promise on a “real” Recall Bill. The Tories had been encouraged to not barrack Douglas Carswell out of respect for the people of Clacton. “I look forward to having them in the House of Commons,” said Dave. Talking about debates on Recall rather than UKIP MPs…

WATCH: Farage-Gasm Descends Into Lynch Mob

Douglas Carswell didn’t fancy answering questions about Farage’s suggestion that immigrants with HIV should be banned from Britain, though not for the want of trying of the Guardian’s Nick Watt. UKIP’s new MP managed to deflect being reminded “Douglas your father was a pioneer! Your father was a pioneer in discovering aids!” by talking about Australian points systems. A party advocating a free NHS for all comers worldwide on the doorstep will lose a lot of votes…

Put Carswell in No. 10

New City minister Andrea Leadsom achieves fame at last on the front page of the Indy today over her Margaret Hodge-style inheritance tax reducing trusts. Which reminds Guido that now she’s has been promoted to the Treasury that leaves a vacancy on the Downing Street Policy Board. Headed by Jo Johnson, the Policy Board is a Conservative party body, not to be confused with the No. 10 Policy and Implementation Unit. Whereas the Policy Unit shapes government policy, the Policy Board is a party instrument set up specifically to take views from backbench MPs. Some say it is merely a tool for backbench party management and a bauble for ambitious MPs. That may be.

Downing Street need someone who is not a yes-man, someone who is respected by his colleagues and someone who can bring radical, reforming ideas to the table.

They should look no further than Douglas Carswell… would he take the job?

In a Survation poll for the Mail on Sunday voters strongly backed Carswell’s ideas. Carswell should surely have a hand in writing the Tory manifesto…

Carswell Victory: Blueprint For “Parliament 2.0″

Guido has always been a firm believer in Douglas Carswell’s prophecy that the “birth of iDemocracy” is key to rolling back the state:

“The West’s Big Government model is bust, things are going to have to change. It is on the cusp of dramatic changes driven by the failure of her elites, technology and maths. At the precise moment Big Government becomes unaffordable, the internet revolution makes it possible to do without it. Be optimistic. We are going to be able to manage without government – and thrive. The old political and economic order is about to give way to something vastly better.”

Well that prediction is a step closer to coming true today as the Speaker announces a Commission on Digital Democracy, with the aim of “creating a Parliament version 2.0″. It will report in 2015, Parliament’s 750th birthday, looking at how countries such as Estonia have enhanced democracy through internet voting and citizen engagement in parliamentary activity. Given that it was Carswell who knifed the last Speaker, could Bercow be trying to keep him sweet as knives are sharpened?

Video: The People’s EU Withdrawal Bill Debated in Parliament

Today history was made as the first-ever crowd-sourced Bill was debated in Parliament. The majority of 5,000 readers of this website voted for Douglas Carswell to propose Britain to withdraw from the European Union, and today Carswell stood up in the House to argue the case for the People’s Bill. The debate can be watched at length here

Open-Sourced Private Members Bill: The Results

Over 5,000 of you took part in Douglas Carswell’s open-sourced Private Members Bill poll, and the results are in:

There was a clear winner:

4. Repeal of the European Communities Bill: Britain joined the European Economic Community in 1973. It has turned out to be an economic and political disaster. This Bill will get us out.

Carswell will now write up the Bill and present it to the House. Go on Dave, you know you want to…

Have you read the last bit of Animal Farm?

You know where the animals are looking through the Farmhouse window?

My TV screen was that window at lunch-time today.

Be careful, the sudden self-congratulatory tone, the slightly pudgy outline of indulgence and you become exactly what you should despise.

The jolly face of the Quisling Cameron poses for your camera has mesmerised and deceived you, you who were once not so deceived.

You were no firebrand, you were a damp squib in my opinion, sorry.

You need a damned good kick up the ahse!
