Tom Watson’s Campaign Cock-Up Amnesia mdi-fullscreen

You wouldn’t want to be the Labour genius responsible for diverting resources away from key seats when Tom Watson finds you. He’s on the warpath:

“Given that we were collecting so much data around the country and we have got various smart people who can analyse the data, why didn’t the smart people pick up we were in trouble in Telford, Vale of Clwyd, and dare I say it in Ed Balls’ seat? I want to find out why that happened.”

Uh oh.

Well, one such “smart person” took it upon himself to set up his own unofficial target seat list, diverting valuable resources away from marginal seats which Labour went on to lose. Instead of focusing on Telford, Vale of Clwyd and Morley and Outwood, this rogue MP rounded up hundreds of Labour activists and herded them to Sheffield Hallam on a failed vanity “mission to kick Nick Clegg out of parliament”. The MP arrogantly admitted defying his party’s campaign organisers:

“Though [Labour’s Sheffield Hallam candidate] is not on the official key seat list, he is top of mine.”

And who was that MP? One Tom Watson
